What exactly do we do when researching contemporary literature? How can the writing process and the literary scene be scientifically observed in the present? Which time span does contemporary literature encompass? How does creativity interact with the industry and its economy, literary studies and literary criticism?
The relationship between contemporary literature and literary studies gives rise to all sorts of questions concerning theory, objectives, and practice. As of March 2016, eight young researchers at Goethe University of Frankfurt have set themselves the task of addressing these extensive and often neglected questions concerning the poetics, publication and performance of contemporary literature over a period of three years.
